Except you can’t give him the credit for the Fair Tax should by chance that actually come to pass, as BullDawgy has suggested the Democrats will push once they have control so they can take credit for it.

Well the weather was good on the Forth of July this year. It was a little cooler than normal — possibly a breeze every now and then. Wills Park fireworks were much improved from last year. We were a little concerned because it started to thundered just before the show began, but it looked like the showers were moving north of the Alpharetta area.

The city of Cumming had their fireworks on the 3rd so we went to those too. No rain that day either. So we had excellent weather this year to go with the food, folks and fun.

Oh that reminds me. I asked Camryn what her favorite part of the 4th of July is and she said, “First, the birthday of our country. Second the meals and being able to spend a lot of time with friends.”

Excellent.

Here it is July 2008 and I am still running Tiger on my iMac. Leopard came out last Fall I believe. Every once in a while I get the urge to jump in the car, go to the mall, and buy Leopard. I was thinking about doing that after I cut the grass tonight but I just saw this on Apple.com.

“Apple previews OSX Snow Leopard to developers…will enhance the performance of OS X…is optimized for multi-core processors, taps into the vast computing power of graphic processing units (GPUs), enables breakthrough amounts of RAM and features a new, modern media platform with QuickTime® X…and is scheduled to ship in about a year.”

So now I begin to think, “I’ve waited this long, I can wait another year.”

Well, what about Abode CS3? So I do a quick search on CS4 and see that betas have already been released — so much for that. And so I wait.

Here is a small bit of cooking information that seems to rock peoples’ worlds when they find out about it. You ready?

You can cook an egg in a microwave.

I could barely remember the recipe for scrambled eggs — so much time would pass since the last time I did it — but when Regina showed me this for the first time, a whole new world of eggs opened up before my very eyes. Try this:

Spray a small bowl with PAM non-stick spray

Crack 1 egg in the bowl

Cover with a microwave plate coverer — that’s the technical word

Cook for 1 minute

From there you can slide it right out on toast, an English muffin, or whatever. Add bacon or ham. I like ketchup on it. Or if you’re feeling really crazy, use 2 eggs. Enjoy!

Subject: Is Oprah a cult leader?

Step One: Watch the video in question
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JW4LLwkgmqA

Step Two: Watch the commentary on CNN
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/showbiz/2008/04/22/sbt.viral.video.cnn

Step Three: Analysis of the commentary

The host begins by implying that the claim, “Oprah is against Christianity because she is promoting a different perspective on spirituality” is false/over the top. This is evidence of our culture’s relativism in the view that all spirituality is equally good and true (inclusive) — until you start making exclusive truth claims, of course.

Let’s apply that way of thinking to something else. Would you say that the claim “Osama Bin Laden is against a Constitutional Republic because he is promoting a different perspective on government (Islamic Theocracy)” is false and over the top?

The first commentator (clearly an expert in theology and religious studies) then claims Oprah IS promoting Christianity because “[Oprah] was brought up Baptist” — not by looking at the basic creeds of the faith and comparing them to what Oprah is teaching now.

The second commentator then throws out a red herring, pointing out that the video is selling a book. While true, it doesn’t discount the fact that what Oprah is teaching is directly opposed to the teachings of Christ.

The third commentator points out that “no one is going to stop being a Christian because of what Oprah says.” But how true can this be when you consider the first commentator’s statements, and even Oprah herself, in that they see no distinction between the foundational truth-claims of the Bible and the world-view that is being taught by Tolle?

All this and Christianity was never even defined.

My Conclusion: Oprah is not technically a cult leader in that she doesn’t claim to be the exclusive source of divine revelation, but what she is teaching is not compatible with Christianity.

As you read all the articles about the 35th anniversary of Roe v/s Wade, remember to keep it real by removing the sterile, meaningless words like “abortion, terminated preganancy, and choice.” Here is one that I read.

Example 1

Before:

“These women believed that it was more responsible to terminate a pregnancy than to have a child whose health and welfare could be in question,” Jones said.

After:

“These women believed that it was more responsible to kill the child than to have a child whose health and welfare could be in question,” Jones said.

Example 2

Before:

“I was very sad and depressed the first week,” she added. “But because it’s hard on you emotionally and some women regret it, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong, that someone else should decide for you.”

After:

“I was very sad and depressed the first week,” she added. “But because killing your child is hard on you emotionally and some women regret killing their child, that doesn’t mean that killing a child is wrong, that someone else should decide for you.”

As for this particular article, it reinforced the idea that abortion in America is not about rape victims and the mother’s health, but homocide as a solution to irresponsibilty and inconvenience — thought the article starts off with Planned Parenthood trying to convince me otherwise.
