Cruising For Eternity
A while back Bulldawgy prayed in church that God would give us a sense of longing for eternity. In North Atlanta it’s hard to find yourself really wanting for anything — except for just more stuff.
Well through love and music I think I am getting a sense of it. Last year Regina and I went on a cruise to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We love cruises for several reasons — the value for what you get, a week of not having to worry about anything, a week of just being with the one you love, tons of food, so many new things to see and try, seeing God’s great earth, and so on. One our favorite things was to listen to a country cover-band every night and dance — okay, mostly watch other people dance.
When we got back, we sold the house and our lives turned upside down.
So now back in the craziness of reality, there are several songs that when we hear them, they instantly bring us back to that place. Back to being together, surrounded by music, dancing, celebration, and being fully satisfied in the moment. I can’t help but take a three minute break from the stresses and pressures of this life and long for that sense again.
I think I can translate that longing to a Heavenly longing — a longing to be with Love Himself and fully satisfied. But not just satified in the moment, fully satisfied in Him for all eternity. And I expect that the sense of celebration, music, and dancing will be like nothing we could ever dream of.
