Praying for Gracie

Thanks to everyone that is praying for Gracie. Last night someone mentioned that their kids pray more for my dog than their own grandmother who is ill and in the hospital.

I wanted to give you an update and something more specific to pray for. Her legs seem to be getting stronger and moving more — thank God — but her right rear paw still seems to be paralyzed. She drags it behind her and makes no effort to flip it back over. It seems that if she could feel it and flip it over then she would be able to put some weight on it.

Her harness came in this week. It’s a good thing because I was beginning to worry about back problems for Regina and I. Gracie seems to be adapting well. She is her old self, just more clumsy as she scoots around the dinner table. She doesn’t seem to be depressed, angry or bitter towards God about all this.

But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds of the air, and they will tell you;

or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish of the sea inform you.

Which of all these does not know
that the hand of the LORD has done this?

In his hand is the life of every creature
and the breath of all mankind.

Job 12:7-10

    Last night, she stood up by herself and took several steps toward her dinner bowl. We are trying to find a way for her toe to heal — one of her toe nails is down to the quick and it’s probably a good part of the reason why she can’t put weight on her foot. Ouch.
