Now Why Have The Names Been Changed?
On the heals of my previous post, this most imperative issue MUST be discussed. The controversy cannot be avoided. The way you view this most important aspect of worldview determines how you will make decisions for the rest of your life. The question?
Why did Monica Kaufman change her name to Monica Pearson?!
She has been with WSB-TV since 1975 and is an icon in Atlanta. One of our cherished family passtimes is to turn on the news and see what new hairstyle Monica is sporting tonight—they change daily. She also has local special interviews called Kaufman Closeups that always seem to override a seasonal special that I have a particular interest in viewing. (I remember one year a special about ghosts was supposed to come on but instead Monica interviewed Tom Cruise or somebody like that. Grrrrr.) What are they going to call those now, Monica Pearson Portraits? (Hey, not bad.)
Anyway, she’s been married to one husband since 1988ish and she got remarried about a year ago. Why change it now? And while we are on the topic, it’s still the Rich’s Great Christmas Tree to me!

I was told it was because of her contract with WSB-TV. New management change has allowed her to use the name she prefers.
Dear Monica, I have watched your Hairstyles and the style you are wearing this week of January 9, 2007 is the best . Please don’t change it. I will be watching you any way because I like your natural presentation in front of the cameras Keep up the good work. It does seem strang that you have changed your name, but I understand.
God bless you,
Carol Gardner
Monica, I love your new hair style and the color this week, and I also like the colors you are wearing today. They makes you look so beautiful. Take care.
Beautiful? She has NEVER been beautiful. YUK!
That said, I liked her news presentations back in the day. For the last decade or two she ceased being objective and come across as pompus. I used to think it would be good if she retired. But I realize she the last of the old guard. I miss the days of Guy Sharp and the folks. And Forrest Sawyer was great.
Mrs. Pearson I have read your biography and I’ve watched you every morning since as far back as I can remember, and I’m only twenty two. To sum it all up in one, since I could easily write a book on you, all I have to say is, You go sister!
