Reinventing
Have you ever felt like your world has been so rocked that you knew things could never go back to being the same? Maybe it’s usually marked by a new hair style, getting a tattoo, or some sort of proverbial stake in the ground. Well the forces of this world — directed by a sovereign God — are shaping and sharpening me into a new sense of commitment to family, health, and web design.
Who would have ever guessed last Spring that I would be making time to enjoy college football?
(Regina bought me a Georgia hat this week.) Believe it or not, that goes under the health category as my hobbies tend to become obsessions and end up stressing me out. The last hobby I picked up was web design.
Speaking of web design, with the new morning schedule I now have extra time at night to spend doing freelance work. Guiroo.com is becoming a marketing site, hence the move of this blog. I am working on a marketing approach now so I apologize for the default WordPress template — blah.
I am also making time for fitness. My friend O’Ryan (the guy who got me back on caffeine) is going to be keeping me accountable for doing upper body and cardio exercise throughout the week. He has also inspired me to try cooking more. I think it is something that Regina and I could share in together — trying new recipes, coming up with new recipes, and spending time together making and eating food with friends and family.
We are so thankful for the love and support of our friends and family. It’s been a long summer, now it’s time to reinvent and be the better for it.

You rock, David.
If you’re adding cooking to your list of mad skills, definitely check out Good Eats on the Food Network. It’s like Monty Python meets Bill Nye The Science Guy meets the kitchen.
What’s really cool is that the host (Alton Brown - your type of guy) lives and shoots the show in Atlanta, so you’ll see him going shopping at places like the Crabapple Kroger and Harry’s, er, “Whole Foods” (or whatever it’s called now).
Also - you may know I’m quite the pizza snob… here’s the best pizza dough recipe I’ve found, and it’s frighteningly simple: Basic Neapolitan Pizza. Always measure everything by weight when making dough.

Good work Dave, I like Alton Brown’s books too. Also if you want to cook you should get some pretty good knives. No serated edges, ones that feel good and can keep an edge. Then sharpen them once in a while (using a stone) and hone every time you use them (using a steel.) Then practice cutting. Also, other piece of advice i have is being dicerning. Figure out what you like about food and what you don’t. Then try to do that. Finally, taste before you serve and add salt and peper as necessary.

I second O’Ryan’s point about knives. There was a Good Eats episode (scroll down to “Scene 3″) on knife sharpening, where they consider the question: “What’s the best knife?”
