The Dust Will Settle Somewhere

It’s a little late but Merry Christmas everyone. I guess I’ll go ahead and wish everyone a Happy New Year and get that out of the way too. I haven’t thought too much about anything deep or controversial lately. I think I am just enjoying the holiday season and applying my mental energy to other things that need to get taken care of — plain ol’ general life administration.

I guess that’s something that I’ve learned as we are redecorating our bedroom … the dust is going to settle somewhere. With so much stuff going on in my life I tend to get stuck addressing the areas that appear to need more attention than the others. But before I know it, it’s been way too long since the other areas have even been checked up on and there’s a good quarter inch of dust bunnies built up on them. When I stop and look closer at the things that I’ve taken for granted just being there day in and day out I realize they’ve become old, worn and dirty.

Whether it’s a bedside lamp, a relationship, or your faith, my encouragement for the new year is to stop and think about where the dust is settling in your life. Take some time from something that is getting too much attention and stop to dust off some the other areas in your life that need some care and attention.

Or in the spirit of American Consumerism, just throw it out and buy a new one. ;)
