Disney Days

Disney Fireworks Show Have you ever felt like you have special revelation that no one else has? A special knowledge that if used properly then things will work out the way you want? Information that gives you a certain sense of power? That makes you feel privileged, viewing everyone else as poor blind little ants wondering about, having no choice but to be forced to react to the elements of their environment?

I admit that I felt this way all last week while I was at Disney World. A while back my sister told us about the book called The Unofficial Guide To Walt Disney World. It uses scientific data every year to plan out the most efficient way to enjoy all the parks at Disney World — from what time of year to go, to what days are least crowded, to what time of day to ride what ride. Let me just tell ya, it works. We did everything we wanted to do in one day with the longest wait in line being about 10 minutes.

I recommend two days in the Magic Kingdom though. The first day can seem more like a To-Do list (Hey mom, look at … sorry, no time, gotta go to Thunder Mountain!) so we used another day to just soak up the atmosphere and do anything we wanted to do again. Having kids made it more fun to me than the last time I remember going. Seeing your kid staring at Snow White or Mickey with a sense of wonder and pure happiness just makes the whole place so much more magical.

This time I think I looked at Cinderella’s Castle a bit differently. Instead of seeing it as a big stage prop of sculpted plaster, I saw it as the icon of child-like innocence that believes in dreams coming true — it was indeed a refreshing sight.

    By the way. Awsome picture.
Oh…and next time be sure to arrive early to get in line to have your picture taken with the Disney Extras Gang featuring such familiar favorites as the two kneeling gazelles from the opening scene of Lion King, and how ’bout everyones favorite smiling equine, Mulan’s Horse. Who could pass up some giant hugs from the hilarious dancing knife and fork set from Beauty and the Beast? :)

    Thx!

What John is referring to is that we waited in line for like 40 minutes to meet “Mickey’s Friends.” We finally got in and met Minnie, Donald, and Gideon.

Who?! That’s okay we said the same thing. He’s the cat from Pinocchio. You’d think Goofy or Pluto would be in the Mickey’s Friends line but we had no idea who this character was. People were getting the others’ autographs then just walking right by this guy ‚Äî sad really. We got our picture taken with him but felt ripped off though.

Yeah, nice shot! You must have a cool camera. :)

I had a similar experience. Growing up in Florida, the idea of Disney World was pretty ho-hum. But seeing it through young children’s eyes was a whole different experience.
