Worship Team Database

Not too much going on. Just watching the news coverage of the hurricane destruction and working on a worship team database.

I’m just building the song data entry portion now but I hope to build an app where you can design set lists around criteria that you enter per song as you prepare for a service. Some of those criteria might be something like genre, purpose, subject matter, speed, keywords, song key, etc. You just enter your criteria and it brings back a list of songs that best matches from the database of all the songs your worship team knows. From there you can save set lists and automatically distribute links to charts, lyrics and mp3s to your team. After the service, you can go back to rate the set and make notes for future use. It is also good for historical data for the folks that request CCLI records.

There is still so much more to planning a set though — like deciding how a song should end or transition into the next. Or when to pray or stop and emphasize the meaning of a song. Not to mention the Spirit may have something completely different planned for you. I don’t intend to reduce it into a mechanical process but I hope to simplify and focus the weekly decision of trying to string together individual songs into a larger idea to be offered up by the body in worship of God.

… that continues to grow. I so appreciate that legend weaving its way into processes to make music planning more efficient. Long live Dave E. Fresh!

I think may be out of context, but I thought it applies to your behind the scenes service for GFC.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
