Desires of the Ears
So do I have some kind of fetish for ears or something? (Oooo baby, you got some sexy ears.) Sorry but no. A couple of things have been stacking up to bring a certain part of my life under conviction — sermons about the christian’s civil responsibility to government, friends who point out irony and the general pruning of the Holy Spirit regarding music and copyright laws.
Just yesterday at lunch someone mentioned that as they were growing up they were taught you were going to Heaven as long as you don’t kill anyone or rob a bank. I don’t know how but modern culture has reduced God’s law to just one full commandment and a very narrow degree of another. That makes things a lot easier to earn our way in doesn’t it? Well in truth, God’s law still stands in its entirety and I am guilty as charged.
Thank God for the cross and Jesus’ payment for my rebellion towards His holiness. I hesitantly repent of my justification of disobedience (AKA: will stop making up excuses for doing what I know is wrong) but know that it is what I need and want to do.
1 John 2:16, 17
16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Thanks for the post… I needed a spiritual kick in the pants. It seems that for too long I’ve had my eye on the pocessions of this world and not on the pocessions of the world that is to come.
Thanks!
