Sickness & Death

Well on top of the pinkeye, I got a virus that knocked me on my butt for a while. I started feeling sick last Friday afternoon and didn’t get out of bed until Thursday. It was bad - headaches, fever, chills, sore throat, swollen glands, aches and pains in general. The doctor took some blood and it’s not related to the mono or CMV I had last year. It sure felt like it though. They are running some tests to see how my immune system is looking.

Regina’s granddad also died last Sunday so we’ve been dealing with that. He’s had alzheimers for a while and was in steadily decreasing health so it wasn’t a big surprise or anything. I didn’t get to make it to the funeral, being sick and all, but it was a full military service because he had been injured so many times while fighting as a Marine in Okinawa during WWII - he was awarded a Purple Heart. Regina’s dad tells me that he was the only one that made it back from patrol that night. They had a gun solute, taps on a bugle, and the flag on the coffin was presented to his wife (Regina’s step-grandmother).

I’m getting back to normal and things are calming back down for the already busy month of May. Thanks for everyone’s prayers.
