Date With Design

Ahhhh the kids stayed with Regina’s parents this weekend so we had a whole two days sans kids. We had forgotten what it’s like to eat a dinner without having to make sure the little ones eat. After dinner we went to a bookstore to sit and read together - not the most romantic thing but we like it. While Regina read books on organizing clutter and general household tips, I looked at graphic design, typography and logo books.

I haven’t done that in a while, focusing on development and all lately, so it inspired me to come up with a new guiroo design. I came home and stayed up late making a new Photoshop design. So now I’ve got the plan and will be implementing it this week. So just to let you know, things may get worse before they get better.

Ok I can leave this one without fear of repercussion. Audrey and I also spent our date this weekend at the bookstore looking at Package design, logo and Graphic Design books. I guess Great minds think alike….uh no they don’t. They are usually polar opposites that banter over blog semantics which lead to further inane discourse, which soon degenerates into petty passive-aggressive attacks hidden under the guise of superior insight, which in turn leaves all others that have had the opportunity to observe this dialogue with the distinct understanding that these are not in-fact great minds. :)

With a day job, the church site, and wanting to move, I have enough to do. I also get enough personal references to keep things interesting. So it’s on hold for a while…

yeah yeah, it’s still in the “worse” phase. I am learning that in certain browsers you can’t have transparent GIFs over Flash. I also learned that transparent PNGs aren’t supported by IE on PCs.

    Gimme a bit more time.

  11. David says:

Well I found a hack to help Internet Explorer out with transparent PNGs. Not too bad to add or remove if your site has a common header file like this one. Learn more about it here.

Now just I need to figure out how to get Mozilla browsers to show transparencies over Flash files then it’s just a matter of adjusting the styles.

Got the transparency worked out. Now I want to have all my post titles show up as image text that is rendered on the fly by PHP. I think it will be a nice touch. Learn more here, be sure to check out the demo.

It was a different thing to do, but the important thing is that you enjoyed during the date. It’s important to be creative in your dating ideas. You donot have to repeat the usual things that you do during dates. Any activity can be fun. The important thing is that you’re together and that you’re happy spending the whole day with each other and that you get to talk about your relationship.

Hmmm… “Date with Design” gets a comment about online dating.

    That’s pretty smart blog spam.
