How Not To Get Medical Advice

Well it looks like I’m in a relaps of CMV (Cytomegalovirus) so I went online to learn more about it and see what others that have it have to say about it. First I Googled and ended up on the CDC. Good content but it doesn’t really give you the kind of info I wanted. So I kept Googling and it looked like everyone just copied the content off of the CDC site. Bummer.

So I Googled the phrase, “I have CMV” to get a more personal view of it. I ended up in this guy’s blog and he was talking about how he was going to have a test to see if he had CMV - let’s say his name is Greg. He listed off his symptoms and it sure looked like it was CMV. Success! There were a few non-related posts and I was so excited to see if he had it that I was about to email him and ask him. I looked around the page and no contact info was provided so I backed the URL up to the homepage.

Upon loading the homepage there was a big banner reading, “Keeping the memory of Greg alive.” YIKES! I immediately started backtracking the blog to see what happened to him. Turns out he tested negative for CMV but had Hodgkins disease and was dead in a matter of a year - a funny perspective on a tragic story. I’ll keep you updated on what’s up with me.

SIDENOTE: Okay with election day being tomorrow I’ll bring up one small point for any “undecideds” out there.

Some claim that Osama could care less about our election and his latest tape proves it. The Osama statement that the media is clinging to is “America’s security doesn’t depend on this election.” The statement in context is about Israel - basically saying, “Any country that supports Israel will get hit.” It’s the rest of the tape that is intriguing by how similar Osama’s statements are to the Democratic party - Bush lied to you about the war on terror, Bush is in it for business, Bush stole Florida in 2000, Bush didn’t react fast enough on 9/11, etc. What a great tv ad - quotes from Kerry and Bin Laden side by side.

do you really buy that interpretation of the video?

My post wasn’t the clearest, which interpretation do you mean?

not that it matters any more. the prevailing wisdom was that news about iraq was good for kerry and news about terrorism was good for bush. so maybe bin ladin made an appearance to remind us that terrorism is real and maybe not intentionally helping bush.

although if i was bin ladin i would want bush in office because he is an excellent scape goat to use as a recruiting tool for more al-queda members.

but those are just my thoughts and they don’t really matter any more now that the election is over.

I dunno, I just don’t think Osama was trying to play reverse psychology on the American voters. The portion of the tape about “bankrupting America” that came out Monday is something that even makes ME second guess our efforts. Bush IS a spender, no doubt. I don’t wonder about the worth of it all but if there is a more strategic method to win this thing.

I just don’t see Osama intentionally helping Bush just to fuel the fire and delay his cause when a Kerry win could bring him so much closer to victory over the US.

Since it’s all over now, I guess we can debate the Great Pumpkin in my next entry.

how would john kerry as prseident have made ben ladin closer to victory?

  6. David says:

Changing out leadership gives Osama the ability to say “See, the great American public doesn’t even have the resolve to stand against us” and then proceed to compare us to Spain.
