Wookies In Heaven

I recently got into a discussion about God, space and time. It was way too much for this forum but it made me think about how little we know about the afterlife. All you get as a child is the image of clouds and harps. Then once you become mature enough to be endoctrinated into the church of Oprah (and even some modern churches), it’s all about you and your happiness - no work, no pain, no tears, never get fat, never grow old. I forget, that’s either Heaven or when the aliens come and take you away. Hmmm. (Cocoon reference.)

When I was younger I used to say, “In my heaven their will be bands on every street corner playing all kinds of music.” Did you catch that key word there? “My heaven”, what’s that about? I read a great quote in an article a while back - “If toys, bread, and circuses will not satisfy us on earth, shall we be greater fools in Heaven?” What an obvious idea that I had never thought about! We just take our self-centered views of ourselves and materialism here on earth and project them on to God’s holy kingdom of the after life. Another part of the article went on to say how it seems that if this was true, then when we get to heaven we will be greeted by the sound of the multitudes sitting around talking about themselves instead of giving praise and worship to the Holy God.

Take the time to think about God’s creation and give Him the credit. It will be good practice for the future.

Eternity Alert: For those of you that aren’t into Fantasy or Sci-Fi, I suggest you go rent a few movies and prepare for all the other creatures of the world, physical and spiritual, that will be inhabiting the environment of Heaven and the new Earth with us. I wonder if there will be anything that resembles a Wookie. (See Isaiah, Ezekial, and Revelation.)
