Q: What’s the difference between The Secret and Joel Osteen?
A: One is a narcissistic, man-centered phenomenon that is sweeping the country right now and promises unlimited joy, health, money, relationships, love, youth: everything you have ever wanted. The other is some weird Oprah thing.
Ummm. I’m either not hip, or I’m dense (quite possibly I am both, but I digress) – what is The Secret? I watched the trailer and I am still in the dark…. is it a new book by that Da Vinci Code writer dude?
As put forth in the film, the Law of Attraction principle posits that our feelings and thoughts attract real events in the world into our lives; from the workings of the cosmos to interactions among individuals in their physical, emotional, and professional affairs. The film also suggests that there has been a strong tendency by those in positions of power to keep this central principle hidden from the public.
Basically, it’s that you send your mental message/force out to the universe and the universe responds to your every desire.
…the fundamental premise of the Law of Attraction being that each individualized consciousness is in essence an identical creator as the universal Creator is, and thus has the same power to create through the same powers of focused thought and applied emotion.
