Okay so the :uga: Dawgs :uga: aren’t doing so good this year. Some have asked why I chose to follow the dawgs. Well, I have to wonder … did I choose the Dawgs or did the Dawgs choose me? Did I choose to follow them because I was smarter or better than all those other college football fans out there? (I believe this year’s record would answer that one.) No, there is something in my heart of hearts that was stirred. That when the great spirit of autumn competition lifted the veil of complacency from my eyes, I had no choice but to be a :uga: fan. How can I be assured of my fan-hood? Only through the persistence of this season and every one after — even if they lose to Florida and Tennessee time and time again.
As for cooking, a couple weeks ago I made a lovely apple, cranberry stuffed pork loin. If you make it be sure to get kitchen twine. We had to use kite string. It held fine but was hard to remove after it cooked. I also did a little improvising last night with chicken fajitas. I felt like I cheated because I used a Kroger taco mix for most of the seasoning but it was a good exercise in preparing the chicken and vegetables. I finally got some olive oil — an essential part of cooking meat on the stove or grill.
As for real exercise, I haven’t done much — there’s too much Halloween candy to eat. Things are still pretty liquid with my schedule. I’m trying to see how it shapes up and when the best time to fit in 20 minutes a few nights a week is. I pulled a muscle a few weeks ago and that de-motivated me for a few days. Ouch.

On olive oil: use it when you cook at lower temperatures. For high heat, go with something cheaper and more durable like soybean (aka “vegetable”) oil.
Olive oil has a relatively low smoke point, so it doesn’t hold up so well under high heat (like on a grill).

Hugh, fajitas are all about the smoke.
I wonder if I can get Waffle House to give me a can of that Flav-O-Lard. Mmmmmm.
John, the mascot analogy doesn’t really work for me. (Point #5)

Here’s a recipe to try::
“Kitty Litter Cake”
CAKE INGREDIENTS:
1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 box of white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent
SERVING “DISHES AND UTENSILS”
1 NEW cat-litter box
1 NEW cat-litter box liner
1 NEW pooper scooper
1) Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan.
Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or
food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie
crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.
2) When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl.
Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make
the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in
mixture
3) Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable.
Shape
the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three more rolls.
Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white
cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top
4) Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of
the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining
Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box. Place box
on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy!
