EastMountainSouth

Someone contacted me about recording them singing a song for their mother who is in a hospise and is soon to pass on. I asked if she could email the song, instead she mailed me the whole CD. If you are looking for some new music to chill to EastMountainSouth is it. It’s folky, mellow, coffee house stuff but was produced with just the right amount of arrangement to keep it interesting and also the perfect amount of sparseness to keep it real – something most folk records lack in my opinion.

Unforunately they have since broken up so they aren’t on iTunes but their stuff is still available on Amazon. It’s not overtly Christian but is laced with spiritual and religious imagery. I emailed the singer asking if tracks were available and she replied with a warm and friendly message that was written like I was an old friend of the family. I’m rarely impressed with music these days but this band instantly made an impression on me, check ‘em out.
